Editorial policy
Sources
Every date, number, rule and attribution carries a numbered note linking to the page it came from. Permit, fee, park and visa rules come only from Nepal government bodies such as the Department of Immigration and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. Flight schedules, fares and trek prices come from the airline or operator. Geography and history come from government data, reference works, development agencies and the Nepali and international press. Forums and anonymous blogs are never a source.
Checking
Before a page is published, every sentence with a note is read against the passage it cites. If the source does not say it, the sentence goes. The date at the top of each page is the last time it was checked; each source in the list shows the day it was read.
What changes
Fees, fares, timetables and road conditions in west Nepal change often, sometimes within a season. A price or schedule on these pages is what the source said on the date shown. A road described as closed or open is what a dated report said; check locally before you travel.
Photos
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are credited at the bottom of each page.
Money
Some pages carry a clearly labelled box with links to trekking agencies, insurers, airlines or gear sellers. We may earn a commission from them; it never decides what a page says. See the affiliate disclosure.
